This is for an educational video series I'm working on. It's right here in this YouTube video.

Now that I know it was you who made it, I can finally properly credit you in my videos and add what you said as an addendum. Thanks for answering my questions and for contributing such awesome artwork to the franchise!

Christopher Siowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08621451350005375586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271798830450545043.post-11512289805908620002019-04-24T12:53:51.404+01:002019-04-24T12:53:51.404+01:00Hi Chris, the succinct answers to your questions a...Hi Chris, the succinct answers to your questions are,
Yes and Yes. Let me elaborate a little. Typically, an Art Director will give you a batch of illustrations to complete, to a deadline. They may, or may not provide reference for these pieces. Often the reference provided only gives a partial picture of what is required, so it is up to the illustrator to do their own research into what is required. If I recall, with the Temple Guard pike piece I could only really find reference from the clone wars animated series and did my best to translate this into the stylized line art piece you see in the book. The wheel clip, I figured could be duplicated as the fighting stance or hold the guard has may change in a combat situation.
For the Guard Shoto, yes, I think I was imagining it being used by the Temple Guard, hence the design similarities with the pike. These considerations are something that is then passed on to the publisher and all final art goes through Lucas Arts for approval. Hope this helps a bit!David Griffithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05588553057506713217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271798830450545043.post-62411526208429701872019-04-22T18:53:48.391+01:002019-04-22T18:53:48.391+01:00I was wondering if you could answer a few question...I was wondering if you could answer a few questions I have. I noticed that in the book, the Temple Guard Pike has a wheel clip on each side, was this copied and pasted due to time constraints?

I'm also curious about the Guard Shoto. It shares many similar elements with the Temple Guard Pike. Was this because you imagined this being a Guard Shoto used by the Temple Guard or were you using the Temple Guard Pike as inspiration for the Shoto since both have the word "Guard" in it?

I'm just legitimately curious about the design process behind these particular things as I'm doing research for a paper and some videos.Christopher Siowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08621451350005375586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271798830450545043.post-6669043472385962212019-04-22T14:02:29.811+01:002019-04-22T14:02:29.811+01:00Hi Christopher, Let me go and grab my copy and we ...Hi Christopher, Let me go and grab my copy and we shall see......Yes, I did do those pieces.David Griffithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05588553057506713217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271798830450545043.post-62621752189205168812019-03-21T06:47:00.869+00:002019-03-21T06:47:00.869+00:00Did you also do the art of the weapon and armor di...Did you also do the art of the weapon and armor diagrams for the FFG "Keeping the Peace" Guardian Sourcebook?
