Tha Work Thang #47: Game of Thrones House Symbols.

As promised here is a look at some of the Game of Thrones pieces I did this year.

I was privileged to be approached by Deb Freytag, Art Director at Fantasy Flight Games, to work on the House Symbols for the factions in the Game of Thrones Card Game 2nd Edition. Deb and the art team had a pretty good idea of how they wanted these to look. the shield shapes and symbol shapes were already decided, I just had to render them and embellish them and weather them...basically, make them look cool.
I was really pleased with how they look as a group. It was a real pleasure to do these.

The shot below shows the reverse side of the above cards:

As an addendum to these, I was also asked to design the card back for the set. It was to look like an old worn tome, which would incorporate imagery from the Game of Thrones universe. the final version differs slightly from mine as the folks at ffg put in swords instead of the iron throne that I put in.

  1. Would you be able to share high res images of the Stark and Lannister shields? Fantasy Flight included great images of the shields you made for the other six factions in their preview articles, but didn't do such for the first two they introduced.

I really love your work and want to compile a picture of all the shields together. Before I attempt to scan the cards I figured I'd ask the source!
